Activision announced that in the first quarter of their fiscal 2009 they will be releasing Guitar Hero: Metallica. Activision’s fiscal year ends on March 31, 2009. So Guitar Hero: Metallica should release sometime after the holidays.
Okay now all I got to do is talk my wife in letting me snag up this bad boy. With Metallica being my all time favorite band this is like a dream come true for me. I can already see many moons jamming with this game.
Movie Review: Indiana Jones, a few aliens and their crazy crystal skull
This short review will have spoilers, if you haven’t watched the new Indiana Jones yet then read this review at your own risk. I’m not sure what to think of this Indy movie. In the beginning we find out that sometime between The Last Crusade and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull that good ole Indiana Jones was part of the OSS (Office of Strategic Services). We also learn that Indiana Jones was part of the investigative team in Roswell, New Mexico at the UFO crash site. At the crash site they recovered alien corpses (at least we assume the aliens were already dead but who knows with our government). It appears these aliens have a crystal skeleton (crystal skull) and they have some kind of magnetic pull to them. Okay so after some expected Indian Jones humor and the usual fight and escape scene Indy finds himself dead center at ground zero at an atomic bomb test site. A-bomb goes boom Indy jumps in fridge and the fridge gets thrown to a safe area.
So like my other reviews I will only spoil the beginning. I personally have mixed feelings over this Indiana Jones movie. Once I got passed the beginning I started liking it. At first I was fighting my inner self from just getting up and leaving once I figured out it was going to be some kind of alien artifact that Indy was after. But after sitting there for awhile I started to really get into it. So I will say it is worth the ticket price to see it at the theater. I won’t be seeing it again and I doubt I will be buying it on DVD. But I don’t wish for those couple of hours back that I spent watching it. On a scale of 1-10 I give it a 6.
My first take of Age of Conan when I first heard of it was “RIGHT ON!!!”. When it was time I ran and pre-ordered it and paid for early access and during EA I was like hmmm, this game isn’t what I thought it was going to be. Now I must admit I am a very picky gamer, so with that in mind I will talk about what I thought about the game. Age of Conan is very beautiful with the graphics but graphics alone won’t save game play. I started off as a conqueror and loved the hell out him the fatalities were badass and I chose to duel wield which by far the most fun I ever had with a character in any game in a long time. But then I started losing interest in the game and here is why. It’s a total quest grind game. It got to the point that I wouldn’t even read the quests, I would just click through the dialog and go complete my task and go off to another quest. I was like “forget making an alt, because there is no way I’m going to run another character through the same starting city and grind out on the same quests”.
Tortage City is the beginning city and you start off on a beach just outside of the city. The City itself is sweet. I loved the look of it. Once you reach level 20 you get to leave the city and visit the rest of the world. Now the first 20 levels are pretty much a solo experience. Your destiny quest which is a very thought out and fun series of quests all have voice over’s and cut scenes but are solo only and takes place at night. In Tortage city the single player part is at night and called “Tortage at night” and the multi-player part is “Tortage day”. All in all it’s a fun start if you are into a grind fest of quests.
Post level 20 is pretty much the same its all quest grinding and just not my cup of tea. I guess for me it’s just hard for any game to beat DAOC (Dark Age of Camelot). I’m a DAOC veteran and I keep going back to it. It’s not only Conan but all the game I have tried. I have played Star Wars Galaxies, City of heroes/villains, World of Warcraft, World War 2 Online, Ultima Online, Dark Age of Camelot, Everquest, DF Online, Adventure Quest, and Mech Quest. And out of all of those games only Ultima Online and Dark Age of Camelot did I play longer than 30 days. I have played DAOC since closed beta and I still play it until this day.
Tis the life of a picky gamer.
As I was surfing through the Bioware site this morning I came across two interesting press releases. The first press release which can be found here (Bioware MMORPG press release) suggests that Bioware is making a MMORPG. And the second press release I came across can be found here (lucasartsbioware.com/) says that Bioware and Lucasarts have teamed up. Well we all pretty much already knew about the Bioware/Lucusarts relationship. So it has me wondering just what kind of MMORPG would Bioware be making? I guess it would be safe to say that it may be a Neverwinter Nights type of MMORPG or even a Mass Effect MMORPG(this would be badass) But if you head on over to www.mmorpg.com and check out the forums there most of the posters say it probably going to be a Bioware/Lucasarts Starwars MMORPG. Well I guess we will have to wait and see.
This just in!! EA/Mythic has decided to remake Ultima Online!! They are going to port it over to the Gamebryo 3D graphics engine (the same engine running DAOC and Warhammer Online). Yep folks that means that Ultima Online will be in third person and possibly first person with a whole new world and new game play. Ultima Online is pretty much being completely remade. But here is the sweet part. EA/Mythic has got Bioware to do the whole Ultima Online story for the new MMORPG!!! .
OKAY!! OKAY!!! I know!! This whole article is bullshit. Just my fantasy life in my own perfect world. But Bioware making a whole new Ultima Online MMORPG would be badass.
